St. Pr. Bell Capri "M"/EH Caprimond X Summertime
5/20/2010
.
Her Sire -Summertime is a Trakehner Verband Elite Candidate and was approved as a premium stallion in Neumünster in 2000. He passed an excellent 70 day test and also won and placed in Young Dressage Horse classes in Germany, as well as Riding Horse Suitability classes which include jumping. Summertime has produced excellent foal crops in Germany with many inspection champions and the approved stallions Songline (Champion in 2006, sold for 325,000€), Eveiro and Giovanni Silva in Germany, as well as Eisenherz in North America.
Summertime's sire E.H. Michelangelo was a leading mare producer in Germany and the Netherlands. As a riding horse producer, his focus was on dressage, but a number of very successful eventers also stem from his lines, e.g. the approved Hölderlin at CIC*** level. Michelangelo was approved in Neumünster in the 1980s and left Germany for Holland, where he started his breeding career. It was not until 1991 that his first crop of sons was inspected in Neumünster. That crop yielded the amazing champion Kennedy and the premium Guy Laroche (ATA). Other approved sons include the 1998 Reserve Champion Hirtenruf (now FEI dressage), the pinto Contrieu, the Danish dressage sire Michellino (e.g. sire of the 2009 European Dressage Champinships Team Bronze medal winner Mistral Hojris) and the Oldenburg premium stallion Mon Dieu. Michelangelo shared his sire Pasteur xx with another legendary dressage sire of the Trakehner breed - Mahagoni. Michelanglo's dam Miami, who was awarded State and Verband Premium as well as Elite status, also produced the international Grand Prix dressage winner E.H. Monteverdi TSF.
Through his dam Sarogna, a Bundeschampionat qualified riding horse in Germany, Summertime contributes the blood of yet another major sire of the Trakehner breed: E.H. Arogno, Anglo Trakehner by Flaneur out of E.St. Arcticonius xx by Apollonius xx, was one of the most prominent sires in Germany and also influenced many other breeds through his sons, grand sons and great grand sons. He is the foundation of the very successful line of E.H. Caprimond - E.H. Hohenstein, as well as of the top Danish warmblood line of Schwadroneur - Blue Hors Hertug, to name just two. In the falling dam line, the Ibikus-son Valerian and the mare producer Wilder Jäger then round out a valuable genetic background. Summertime's mare family of Sophie also produced the Neumünster Reserve Champion Samurai II (later exported to the US), the East German show jumper sire Sarastro and the impeccable show jumper sire Sarafan.
Her Dam - Pr.St. Bell Capri *M* arrived at Seneca Ridge in early 2008 after we had the opportunity to purchase her in Germany. This exceptional mare is one of the very few direct E.H. Caprimond daughters in the United States and comes from a highly proven dam line. She displays Trakehner type to perfection and is a truly exceptional mover, with an especially powerful trot. We presented Bell Capri for AHS Inspection on October 7th 2008 and she was entered into the AHS Main Mare Book. She also passed her MPT after only 4 weeks of training, with foal at side and back in foal. Bell Capri was bred by Michael Schiele, breeder of the stallions E.H. Hofrat and Hoftänzer, among others.
The dam:
Dam Bellatrix also produced a full sister to Bell Capri, also a Trakehner Verband premium mare Belladonna (Gestüt Hohenschmark in Germany). Bellatrix was a daughter of the outstanding sport horse sire E.H. Rockefeller. Four of his sons were approved in Europe, and all four had significant impact, not only on the Trakehner breed: Benz was awarded the title "Elite Stallion" based on his own success at FEI levels in dressage and the exceptional quality of his daughters; Artistic-Rock is a FEI dressage competitor for the Netherlands and sire of several auction highlights; Fontainbleau was the 1993 Champion in Neumünster and an internationally successful Three Day Eventer (who also managed to produced *** horses in that discipline) and Chardonnay, also a Verband "Elite Stallion" with a career at FEI levels in dressage. Rockefeller was without a doubt the best of all EH Consul sons in the breed.
E.H. Consul was one of the 4 most important modern sport horse sires for the Trakehner breed in the past 25 years - and interestingly, like the other three major sires Arogno, Habicht and Mahagoni, an Anglo Trakehner with one parent a full TB! Consul was also extremely influential in the Hanoverian breed. His daughters produced such horses as Verden Auction Highlight Diamond Dream (600,000DM), Champion stallion Don Frederico, and premium stallion Don Vino. Consul is also dam sire of the multiple Olympic Team Gold medalist Bonaparte(H. Kemmer.)
Condus, in the third generation, was a highly pre-potent sport horse sire and one of only two direct sons of the legendary Anglo Arabian Ramzes AA in the Trakehner breed. Ramzes AA founded the exceptional lines of Ramiro in Holstein and Romandour II in Westfalia and Rubinstein I in Oldenburg Wherever his name is still within reach in a modern pedigree, high quality breeding stock is usually right around the corner. Condus' early breeding career took place in Germany, where he sired a handful of outstanding brood mares and the approved sons Tarim and Tempelritter. He was later exported to North America where his most important son Leonidas *Pg* is himself an international Grand Prix dressage winner and sire of FEI dressage horses.
The mare family of O18B1 Blitzlicht hails from a private East Prussian breeder and has produced a number of great sport horse sires for all disciplines, including the amazing late E.H. Banditentraum, like Consul, a huge success in several German warmblood breeds, especially Hanover. Also from this family: Bärenfang, Beatos, Blinker, Blues, Hexenmeister, Baron, Boris, Beaujolais II and the younger and highly successul stallions Baron Verdi (ATA) and Ballzauber (ATA).
The sire:
Sire E.H. Caprimond was once called the "Pythagoras of modern times" by German breed director Lars Gehrmann, probably a fitting name for a stallion who shaped the breed to a great extent. With over 200 registered daughters in the Trakehner breed, over 20 approved sons in various stud books, and a large number of sport horses to his credit, Caprimond is a true living legend. Among his many sons are E.H. Hohenstein, E.H. Latimer TSF, Canaster I+II, Caprigold, Contucci, Catani K, Chronist, Soulman, Sponek, Tanzmeister I + II. Caprimond is also dam sire of the stallions Couracious, Cadeau, Donautanz, Sarasani, Sauvignon (FEI dressage), Schönbrunn (FEI dressage), Zauberfürst (2007 Reserve Bundeschampion), Dacaprio, De Laurentis, Donauzar, the 2008 approved Everio, Immens, Lichtenfels, and Störtebeker, and Maxwell. Caprimond was Reserve Champion of his approval, the Bundeschampionat, and won his 100 day test in Adelheitsdorf. He was a successful Grand Prix dressage horse and still competed at the age of 20 with Theresa Wahler, when she was only a year younger! Even in his mid-20s now, Caprimond is ridden every day and is the highlight of uncounted stallion shows. His work ethic, rideability, soundness and the type he passes on so dominantly make him one of the most prominent stamping sires of all breeds. Sire Karon also produced the approved Schampus (FEI dressage), Beaujolais II (FEI dressage) and Gadsby. Dam sire E.H. Mackensen was a maternal half brother to Mahagoni and a celebrated producer of sport horses at FEI levels in all three major disciplines. His son E.H. Charly Chaplin is one of the Trakehner breed's most successful dressage horse sires, with over 25% of his get reaching S level in competition! Caprimond's dam line of O133A1 Cornelia (Gut Schwaighof) also stands for the stallions Cordial, Chabrol, Chateauneuf (S level dressage and show jumping), Chardonne, Cortez and the Westfalian premium stallion Fuerto.
